Hind Rajab Foundation Urges US Probe Into Israeli Officer Over Killing of Hind Rajab and Her Family
The foundation says it has submitted evidence to the US Department of Justice against Sean Glass, alleging command responsibility for attacks in Gaza, including the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab and members of her family.
In a new development in the case of Palestinian child Hind Rajab, the Hind Rajab Foundation has submitted a request to the US Department of Justice seeking an investigation into Israeli officer Sean Glass.
Who Is the Israeli Officer?
According to the Hind Rajab Foundation, Sean Glass commanded an armored company known as the “Vampire Empire,” part of the Israeli military’s 52nd Battalion within the 401st Armored Brigade. The foundation accuses him of command responsibility for attacks in Gaza, including the attack that killed Hind Rajab and six of her relatives, as well as the targeting of the ambulance dispatched to rescue her.
What Evidence Has the Foundation Presented?
The foundation says its case file includes geolocated photographs, forensic analyses, social media posts and recordings published by Glass himself, as well as interviews and a book he authored. These materials reportedly discuss military operations and the destruction of buildings and neighborhoods in Gaza. According to the foundation’s investigation, forces under Glass’s command were near Hind’s car at the time of the attack. The foundation further alleges that he may have ordered the gunfire, a claim that has not been established in court.
What Happened to Hind Rajab?
On January 29, 2024, the car carrying Hind Rajab and members of her family came under fire in Gaza City, killing six of her relatives. Five-year-old Hind remained trapped inside the vehicle, pleading for help over the phone with Palestinian Red Crescent staff. The two paramedics who went to rescue her were later killed.
Despite the latest legal request, no US arrest warrant for Glass or criminal charges against him in the United States have been confirmed. The case has once again drawn attention, this time in the United States, amid calls for accountability over the deaths of Hind Rajab and her family.
